Sara Magalhães

Science and project management

She has a degree and PhD in Educational Psychology from the University of Minho. She is currently responsible for the Science and Project Management area at ProChild CoLAB, where she uses her skills in project management and team integration to drive forward initiatives that promote children’s rights. Their collaborative style and commitment to qualified training reflect their commitment to empowering communities to drive change.

This position is informed by a career of scientific research, spanning more than 15 years, and (co)coordination in projects in the field of social psychology and gender equality, mainly at the at the Center for Psychology at the University of Porto | Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences of the University of Porto. Her main area of research articulated the multiple dimensions of ageing through the lenses of feminist studies, critical social psychology and the intersectionality theory. She was part of projects with competitive funding awarded by the European Commission, Horizon2020 SWaftS; EEA GRANTS/FSE/CIG, POPH/QREN/FSE/CIG, POISE/CIG or FCT. She is also an expert evaluator for CCDR-Norte, a specialist recognized by the Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality (CIG), and an activist who collaborates with NGOs to strengthen their role as an agent of change in society.

Free time is short, but I love traveling, around the world and in my car with no certain destination. I love reading. I love just being and having a good chat. I love walking on the beach and the sea…

curiosities

She even went to the Conservatory and learned to play the violin (although she lost her skills). She was a member of the volleyball federation (which wasn’t very compatible with music).
