Jacinta Sousa
Doctoral student

Holds a Master’s degree in Psychology from the University of Minho (2021) and is currently a researcher at the Psychology Research Center (CIPsi) while pursuing a PhD in Psychology, specializing in Victims, Offenders, and the Justice System. Her doctoral research focuses on children bereaved by intimate partner homicide, examining the impact of this form of victimization and the trajectories of adaptation and support.
Her professional trajectory focuses on the intersection between psychology and the justice system. She has worked as a Research Fellow on projects such as the assessment of homicides in the context of domestic violence and sexual exploitation, contributing to the development of evidence to support public policies and protection interventions for vulnerable groups.
At ProChild CoLAB, she is part of the Protection axis, committed to applying scientific knowledge to promote well-being and safeguard children and young people, bridging academic research with the practical needs of communities and institutions.
