The main objectives of the Social Participation Area are:

• Promote scientific knowledge on children’s social participation, citizenship and gender equality, based on an interdisciplinary and multi-level approach;
• Build integrated social practices on a territorial basis to promote children’s social participation and well-being;
• Qualify professionals to implement social interventions with children;
• Promoting a community culture promoting the children’s rights;
• Build the Learning Field Model through an integrated intervention in the areas of social, educational, urban planning, protection and health, aimed at children and adults in socially disadvantaged communities.

The Participation Area participates transversally in the projects of the Development and Education Area.
