PPCA: Evaluation of the Program for Preparing Children for Adoption
Empirical evidence has shown the need to promote a careful and consistent preparation of children for adoption, as a way to increase the probability of a successful permanent placement. This need is highlighted by the legislative change that establishes the availability of responses for children preparation for adoption. At this moment, there is a need to identify empirically validated practices that support professionals at this level, in a consistent and articulated manner, providing children with a structured intervention that is adequate to their needs.
To evaluate the efficacy of the Program for Preparing Children for Adoption (Henriques, Domingues, Teixeira, & Silva, 2017) on the psychosocial well-being of children and on the adaptation and communication openness about adoption in adoptive families. This will contribute to practice’s qualification and professionals’ satisfaction in this area.
