As part of her master’s degree Joana had the opportunity to carry out a curricular internship at the Centro Integrado Arco-Íris and at the Centro Comunitário PIA-1, which belong to the Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Almada. Through this internship, she was able to develop evaluation and intervention skills, both individual and in groups, with the elderly and with children aged between 6 months and 6 years old, having concluded it with a classification of 20 points. She also did a dissertation on the theme “Relations between Grandparents and Grandchildren: the sharing and transmission of Family Rituals”, which allowed her to deepen her knowledge on intergenerationality and on family relationships and dynamics, as well as to develop skills in qualitative research, in which she obtained a classification of 19.
In 2021, Joana concluded the Initial Pedagogical Training of Trainers, in order to obtain the Certificate of Pedagogical Skills.
With a growing interest in the areas of family psychology and the protection of children and young people at risk, Joana is currently doing her Junior Professional Year at ProChild CoLAB to become a full member of the Portuguese Psychologists’ Association.
